The company is a member of KONČAR Group, the leading manufacturer of electrical equipment in Croatia. The production of apparatus and switchgear in KONČAR originates from the company Elektra, which was founded in Zagreb 1921. Since 1946 it has been part of the company RADE KONČAR.
Since 1963, the design, development, manufacturing and maintenance of high and medium voltage electrical apparatus and switchgear for electric power transmission and distribution exists at location Borongaj in several organizational forms.
Since 1991, the production of medium voltage apparatus takes place in KONČAR –MEDIUM VOLTAGE APPARATUS Inc., while the production of high voltage apparatus and plants is carried out with KONČAR – HIGH VOLTAGE SWITCHGEAR Inc.
At the location Sesvete-Sesvetski Kraljevec the development and production of medium and low voltage switchgear and transformer substations since 1991 takes place in the company KONČAR – SWITCHGEAR Inc.
All three companies were the leading Croatian manufacturers of power transmission and distribution equipment, with significant references in Croatia and abroad.
At the end of 2017, the companies KONCAR – SWITCHGEAR Inc. and KONČAR – HIGH VOLTAGE SWITCHGEAR Inc. were joined to KONČAR – MEDIUM VOLTAGE APPARATUS Inc. After the merger, the company continues to operate under the name KONČAR – SWITCHGEAR Inc.
The Company is 100% owned by the mother company KONČAR – ELECTRICAL INDUSTRY Inc..
